Work for the Arts Council

The Arts Council is powered by a student staff that represents all arts disciplines across campus. The staff is led by a Program Administrator and a Graduate Assistant. 

All Arts Representative and Content Creator positions have been filled for Fall 2022. There may be positions opening in the spring semester, check back here and the Student Employment website in November.

Title: Content Creators (2 positions, 4-6 hours per week)

Overall: The purpose of this role is to develop and create engaging content that amplifies the campus arts community. This role is part of the Marketing Team.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Attend BC Arts events, rehearsals, and classes to develop content and marketing materials 
  • Produce content (photos, videos, etc.) for the BC Arts Council social media platforms 
  • Design graphics for Arts Council marketing materials 
  • Collaborate with Arts Council staff to create content and marketing materials for the 25th Annual Arts Festival

Skills 

  • Able to work in teams and collaborate effectively with others
  • Fluency in Canva and Google Drive
  • Proficiency in Adobe Suites preferred 
  • Committed to enhancing visibility of all BC arts groups and events 
  • Motivated and driven to execute ideas for the arts community
  • Experience with BC arts community preferred

Arts Representative – Dance (2 positions)

Overall: The purpose of this role is to advocate for and promote the arts across campus. 

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Serve as one of two Dance Arts Representatives and liaisons between the student community and Arts Council 
  • Create connections with associated departments and student organizations 
  • Attend major dance events throughout the academic year (ex. Week of Dance, Freshman Showcase, ensemble showcases, etc.)
  • Update the University Calendar with all upcoming dance events
  • Assist the Arts Council office and student organizations with event planning, marketing, and overall involvement on-campus.
  • Collaborate with other Arts Representatives to develop programming/events for the 25th Annual Arts Festival

Skills:

  • Able to work in teams and collaborate effectively with others
  • Motivated and driven to execute ideas for the arts community
  • Participation in a BC dance group strongly preferred

Arts Representative – Instrumental Music

Overall: The purpose of this job is to advocate for and promote the arts across campus. 

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the Instrumental Arts Representative and liaison between the student community and Arts Council 
  • Create connections with associated departments and student organizations 
  • Attend major instrumental events throughout the academic year (ex. Bands, Music Guild, Chamber Music, Symphony Orchestra etc.)
  • Assist the Arts Council office and instrumental music student organizations with event planning, marketing, and overall involvement.
  • Collaborate with other Arts Representatives to develop programming/events for the 25th Annual Arts Festival

Skills:

  • Able to work in teams and collaborate effectively with others
  • Motivated and driven to execute ideas for the arts community
  • Participation in BC’s instrumental music community strongly preferred

Arts Representative – Intercultural

Overall: The purpose of this job is to advocate for and promote the arts across campus. 

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the Cultural Arts Representative and liaison between the student community and Arts Council 
  • Create connections with associated departments and student organizations 
  • Attend major cultural events throughout the academic year (ex. Cultural Showcases, Cultural Org Meetings, Heritage Month Celebrations, etc.)
  • Assist the Arts Council office and student organizations with event planning, marketing, and overall involvement on campus.
  • Collaborate with other Arts Representatives to develop programming/events for the 25th Annual Arts Festival

Skills:

  • Able to work in teams and collaborate effectively with others
  • Motivated and driven to execute ideas for the arts community
  • Participation in BC’s cultural clubs strongly preferred

Arts Representative – Literature + Film

Overall: The purpose of this job is to advocate for and promote the arts across campus. 

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the Literature + Film Arts Representative and liaison between the student community and the Arts Council
  • Create connections with associated departments and student organizations 
  • Attend major literary and film events throughout the academic year (ex. Literary Magazine readings, Poetry Festival, screenings, etc.)
  • Assist the Arts Council office and student organizations with event planning, marketing, and overall involvement across campus.
  • Collaborate with other Arts Representatives to develop programming/events for the 25th Annual Arts Festival

Skills:

  • Able to work in teams and collaborate effectively with others
  • Motivated and driven to execute ideas for the arts community
  • Participation in the BC literature and/or film community strongly preferred

Arts Representative – Theatre & Improv

Overall: The purpose of this job is to advocate for and promote the arts across campus. 

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the Theatre & Improv Arts Representative and liaison between the student community and the Arts Council
  • Create connections with associated departments and student organizations 
  • Attend major theatre & improv events throughout the academic year (ex. Improv Showcases, Theatre Productions, etc.)
  • Assist the Arts Council office and student organizations with event planning, marketing, and overall involvement across campus.
  • Collaborate with other Arts Representatives to develop programming/events for the 25th Annual Arts Festival

Skills:

  • Able to work in teams and collaborate effectively with others
  • Motivated and driven to execute ideas for the arts community
  • Participation in the BC theatre and/or improv community strongly preferred

Arts Representative – Visual Arts + Makers

Overall: The purpose of this job is to advocate for and promote the arts across campus. 

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the Visual Arts Representative and liaison between the student community and the Arts Council
  • Create connections with associated departments and student organizations 
  • Attend major visual arts events throughout the academic year (ex. McMullen Exhibitions, etc.)
  • Assist the Arts Council office and student organizations with event planning, marketing, and overall involvement across campus.
  • Collaborate with other Arts Representatives to develop programming/events for the 25th Annual Arts Festival

Skills:

  • Able to work in teams and collaborate effectively with others
  • Motivated and driven to execute ideas for the arts community
  • Participation in the BC visual arts and/or maker communities strongly preferred

Arts Representative – Vocal Music

Overall: The purpose of this job is to advocate for and promote the arts across campus. 

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the Vocal Arts Representative and liaison between the student community and Arts Council 
  • Create connections with associated departments and student organizations 
  • Attend major vocal arts events throughout the academic year (ex. A Cappella showcases, Chorale concerts, etc.)
    Assist the Arts Council office and student organizations with event planning, marketing, and overall involvement across campus.
  • Collaborate with other Arts Representatives to develop programming/events for the 25th Annual Arts Festival
